I agree. I hate to even weigh in when Freepers are having another Teacher Hate Fest, but I am a pretty good English teacher. I teach the classics, and I'm very old school. My students put forth a good effort for me, they learn as much as I can get them to, and most of them pass. It's as satisfactory as it can get, given I'm reaching in Los Angeles.

But I cannot math for squat. This has been true all my life, not because I can't understand the procedures-- I can. For about a week. I can't retain them. I can pass a class if I work on it every day, but once it's over, come ask me a year later how to do these algebraic or geometric formulas and equations and I couldn't tell you to save my life. Math is simply not my thing.

That's why we have calculators.
