Here is just one of Clints famous quotes: "They say marriages are made in heaven. But so is thunder and lightning!"

Wow! Swimming three miles to the coast is unbelievable. Never knew that.
Also didn’t know his full first name is “Clinton.” I’m surprised he didn’t have that legally changed to just plain “Clint.”

The entry keeps saying “life gaurd”.

A year or so ago, I rented “The Creature From The Black Lagoon” and it’s sequel.
Clint Eastwood had a very short part as an extra. I can’t remember which movie it was.

Not to take away from Clint's swimming skill, but according to the original news story, he and the pilot first got out of the wreck on two inflatable rafts. Later, apparently at the breakers off the coast, the rough seas tossed Clint off his raft, and he had a harrowing swim the rest of the way in. The sea is a bitch.
You can read more about it, including text from the original 1951 news story, in this San Jose Murk article about the modern attempt to find the plane.

First saw Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates in the TV series Rawhide in the early 1960s. Been a fan ever since.
