Sexual attraction is one among many attractions that a man might appreciate in his wife, just as she might appreciate the same in him. I would think that for most couples, however, their spouse is not necessarily the most sexually attractive person they have ever encountered.
Selecting a spouse isn't exactly like picking one's favorite from a catalog. One must not only decide to marry another but that other must also agree to the marriage. This limits the choices that either partner has.
How praiseworthy it might be for a man to marry a woman because she is honest, sensible, caring and industrious. That he might marry such a woman despite finding that she is only a "7" in sexual attractiveness should not be a surprise. Perhaps he might even marry such a fine woman despite recognizing that her interest in sex is less than his.
Must the wife spend her life imagining that her husband has no sexual interest that is not fully satisfied by her, even to the extent of a lustful gaze? Or might it be possible that she too has recognized in him qualities that ensure security, comfort, happiness and fidelity, despite his not being the most sexually attractive man on earth?
My wife, for example, finds Tom Selleck to be extremely attractive. I'm sure Selleck lacks some of the very positive traits that I possess. However, I am very grateful that Selleck never showed an interest in my wife before I proposed. He's such a nice guy that I might have faced rejection.
