My education background is in trolling. I KINDA get what a shill is, but not fully. And I just started seeing the term "slider." What exactly is a "slider" and a "shill?"

Maybe a quick tutorial on the new thread for us nubs?

Slider is someone who comes to the thread with the intention of moving things off topic. Like changing the subject. Lot of them make it about themselves but they come in all varieties.

Shill is pretty much the 8chan version of a troll.

Slider is a thread hijacker, one who does it purposefully to get the thread off track.

In a not-so-honest auction, the shill is planted in the audience to run up bids, especially if they detect an enthusiastic bidder. Should the shill get 'stuck' with the item then a little later the auctioneer will say the bidder backed out and puts the item up a second time.

In that context you could say the shill leads people along the path of their own desires in order to entrap them.
