Cherry can answer this question, but my short response is: how many millions of decent, pure and even heroic Catholic men and women would it take to show you that the Church is infinitely bigger than any pope?

The Church is not the Mystical Body of the pope; it is the Mystical Body of Christ.

The really important and really interesting people in Catholicism are not the priests, or even the popes, but the saints.
