It’s all about the dog and not the grandmother and the negligent owner of the dog having both endangered the lives of the children by not sequestering a known aggressive/dangerous dog.

Human decisions led directly to this attack and it has little to do with the breed.
It’s abject stupidity, but a convenient sounding board for those who believe one breed should be exterminated for what is arguably the result of human actions & choices.

In the 13-year period of 2005 through 2017, canines killed 433 Americans. Pit bulls contributed to 66% (284) of these deaths. Combined, pit bulls and rottweilers contributed to 76% of the total recorded deaths...
Seems to have quite a bit to do with the breed....

The amount of restraint suggested for pits shows that it IS the breed.
Bad owners exacerbate it, but you cannot train a dog's inherent nature out of it.
