He left the wife (who had suffered automobile injuries) and three children who waited for him while he was in captivity. He dated Cindy before he was divorced, choosing the rich socialite, for the purpose of advancing his political goals.

The MSM will promote, fawn and drool over those performances for a good long while, perhaps not realizing the negative impact it has on us Americans, and America as a whole.
