The officer who killed a man in his apartment Thursday after she apparently mistook it for her own home also shot a suspect during an arrest in 2017.
Officer Amber Guyger has not been officially named in connection with the shooting, but a source within the Dallas Police Department has identified her.
Guyger, who has been with the department almost five years, was not indicted in the 2017 shooting of the suspect who had taken her Taser from her during a struggle.
She is expected to face a manslaughter charge for killing 26-year-old Botham Jean on Thursday, but a warrant for her arrest had not been issued Saturday.

Two shootings in 5 years. I think that's above average her time on the Force.

Videos right after the shooting. I didn’t play them so I don’t know if a warning is needed.
From what I read it appears she put her key in the door and attempted to open it. Maybe the guy opened his door to see what was going on and she shot him. She appears to have a trigger finger.

She was but no results so far. The cops dragged their feet just naming her.

She should have been put in the Lock Up Immediately, and cops wonder why citizens don’t trust them.

She was the only woman on some kind of elite team. The pickings must be slim in Dallas.

Would you enter your residence alone if you were confident there was possibly an armed intruder or several armed intruders inside?
Not me. I’d wait for backup. It’s the reason why cops are taught not to play cop while off duty. It’s because there is no backup. You’re it. That’s no bueno from my perspective.

As a very general rule, but one relied on in many jurisdictions, a woman, LEO or not, may use deadly force on any male that she believes is threatening her.
If the force imposed is fatal, it's her word against his as to the circumstances of the event.

Thanks. She seems like she might panic easily. Two shootings is bad.

True. But that doesn’t matter. If this story holds up as is reported now, she needs to go to prison for many, many years.

SOP is for LEO’s to be given 48 hours (per previous FR threads) before talking to investigators. That would include any physical testing.
