Hulu boycotted Laura Ingraham to please David Hogg.
I did the exact same thing. Digging the sports. Wish I had Pac12 network, but I only need that during football season, and even then I’m somehow picking up Husky games.
Well, I don’t have cable anymore and that is what I was going for.
Antenna....I get NBC, CBS, a handful of secondary stations. I read more and got some Great Courses and a collection of older DVDs on sale for ridiculous prices.
It's working out just fine. Next, I'm wondering if there's a really inexpensive way to get computer.
You might want to look around at alternative internet providers. I think they are referred to as WISP (wireless internet providers.) They might be able to cover hard to reach areas where no one else provides internet service. I have a friend who gets his signal from an antenna transmitter several miles away. He’s very happy. Here’s a link that I found that provides several choices - https://broadbandnow.com/Fixed-Wireless-Providers
Where I hang out for the winter my internet is from a tower over 10 miles away using a cell amplifier antenna. No phone lines, no cable. So tv is limited through the internet. I run Netflix as you can set bandwidth speed limits to slow down internet usage if you log into your Netflix account using your laptop and go into settings.
Due to the great speed of 4G LTE Hulu, Roku and Amazon will ramp up data speeds to match your bandwidth for maximum picture quality. So for a cable quality delivery of 350 megs of data for a typical movie, Ama,on and the others will deliver a potential 3 GIGS to watch the same movie.
On a monthly data limit that means 5 movies month vs 25 for around 15 Gig.
So for you high bandwidth / data limited types Netflix is your best choice.
Never heard of this, will look into it.
“Phenomenon”
_____________
A very poignant movie. IMHO, Trivolta’s best.
We recently got a Firestick. Haven’t cut cable, Direct TV , yet. May keep the minimum pkg for local channels. I do have an antenna that could do that though.
Amazon has a couple shows we really like.
Bosch, based on the Michael Connolly detective book series. Five seasons
Jack Ryan, based on the Tom Clancy character. One season.
Both favorite authors.
You're right, and because of that I'll never use Hulu. Or Wayfair. Both companies tried to suppress her free speech.
So what sports channels does everybody get with these various services?
I called Direct TV last year and told them we never watch TV so paying $75 per month was not smart for us. They immediately reduced the payment to $14 per month and I just renewed for another year at $15. If they ever refuse to give me the discount I will cancel and we will buy an antenna and get netflix.
Have had directv for quit some time now. before, during and after the att merge. I will say I think it was better before the merge. Not sure why but after att came in the caller ID log was removed. You still get caller ID but no history of calls. Sounds like a small thing but could come in very handy sometimes. directv has always been a bit pricey IMO but you can change packages anytime you like. Also, had fiber optic put in by att recently, when I mentioned to the installer I had a OTA HD antenna in my attic for when I lose signal due to weather he said I wouldn’t need it in the future because directv will be go through the phone lines soon......have yet to see that. Hope this helps.
Bosch is one of the best series out there--top 5, maybe--on all the subscription services. Excellent show.
A plain-vanilla Android tv box with Kodi and addons would work even better.

Put your Zip Code into the Antennas Direct channel selector and see what channels pop up.
If you’re within 70 miles of a transmitter you should be able to get something with a good rooftop antenna.

You can get a report more exact through TV Fool.
You don’t have to put in your exact address of course.
As I no longer watch Fox News Im very VERY close to cutting the cord as well. The only stopping point left now is how to DVR streamed channels for later viewing. Theres still a small amount of shows that I watch that would be difficult to view on demand. (Although last month Encore ran a channel with nothing but James Bond movies all month and I ended up just watching that about 90% of the time so maybe its just a matter of purchasing the right shows!)
Check out “Band of Brothers” on Amazon-——incredible!!!!!
.
Old school. Still have a rotary phone? :-D
