I’d planned to spend the day begging editors for the hundreds of dollars it would cost for a ticket to see political rock star Michelle Obama launch her book (and presidential campaign) with Oprah Winfrey, and then join the rest of the media in pro-Michelle hysteria.
I’d also planned to imagine Hillary Clinton, alone in her afternoon kitchen, reaching for another box of cheap chardonnay, muttering bitterly: “Michelle thinks she’s Beyonce? (Bleep) that. I’m the boss …Who’s the boss who’s the boss who’s the boss?”
But then Johnny Rocco had to butt in and ruin things.
With angry charges of vote fraud and racism and incompetence in the botched Florida recounts of close races for governor and the U.S. Senate, it’s time to consult Johnny Rocco.
He’s a political expert, see? With roots along the Chicago Way but wise in the way of Florida vote recounts too, see?
“I take a nobody, see? Teach ’em what to say, get his name in the papers,” Rocco says while getting a straight razor shave down in Key Largo. “Yeah, pay for his campaign expenses. Dish out a lot of groceries, and coal, get my boys to bring the voters out, and then count the votes over and over until they added up right and he was elected …yeah.”
Yeah, Johnny. Yeah.
Rocco was loosely based on a Chicago gangster named Al. Yeah, that Al. It was long ago, hence Rocco’s references to coal and “the papers.” Edward G. Robinson, with his never-ending use of “see?” played Johnny Rocco in the old movie “Key Largo,” with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.
But in Florida this week, just as it was 18 years ago with hanging chads and Chicago’s Bill Daley trying to stiffen Al Gore’s limp spine, it’s Johnny Rocco time.
Why?

Yeah, Johnny Rocco , I was on top, ran the whole show, see? Then along comes this two bit name of Trump, a hero, a ‘’soldier’’. Soldier has a lot of dough to spread around. So I say’s “Listen soldier, I’m the top dog here, see?’’

If we can get 52 in the senate at least we can tell Murkoski and Collins to take a hike. 50 plus the VPs 1 can get any judge confirmed and right now thats what really counts. I want the most conservative judges Trump can find to stack the courts and hopefully Ginsberg, the most ddisgusting excuse for a judge ever to sit on a bench, will soon breath her last breath and get replaced by Trump. I would love it if Roy Moore replaced her.

I presume that many of these ‘Pick-offs” happened after the lights were turned out in election headquarters and before they were turned back on the next morning.

If there were none, the chances of this happening by random chance is approximately 1/16384 or less than 10% of the chance that Elizabeth ‘foxy haunches’ Warren is a Cherokee Indian in good standing.

A 20 year younger Roy would be ideal to me. No need to revisit the new Justice nominee issue any sooner than necessary.
Along those lines, I’d like Clarence Thomas to think about retiring before the Senate and Presidency get out of whack ideology wise. (And I TRULY admire Justice Thomas)
It would be great to have a 6-3 kind of balance for another 25 years.

Yup. More than anything the cynicism and malevolent mocking use of the word ‘’ soldier’’ by Robinson to taunt Bogart is truly unnerving. It truly brings out the hate Rocco’’ has for Borart’s character because I suspect Robinson knows Bogart’s quiet dignity , sacrifice and refusal to be cowed by “Johnny Rocco’’ is truly making him feel small.
Johnny Rocco ??? Wasn’t Robinson’s character in Little Caesar Johnny Rico?
