Of course he plays for Boston.

Boston is a place where if you are from there, the rules don’t matter. If you are not, then the smallest infraction can suddenly be used against your interests.

Can’t stand the place.

You sound bitter!

I lived in Boston most of my life. It was nice to see the home team (no matter what sport) win most of the time. Though the Patriots had some really bad years for a while before they too got consistently good.

But I always put it in perspective. Very few of those players actually came from Boston so I never really saw them as representing me personally. I never got into the whole "sports team from my area is better than the sports team from your area" kind of thing.
