Probably not a popular opinion, but I’m glad to see it go.
I stopped going to that museum, which is second only to the Udvar hazy, because it never changed. Air and Space technology is constantly evolving, the museum should change with it. Let’s get some spacex tech in there and some photos from the more recent missions.
They did add a navigation exhibit five years ago (which has two pictures of my Dad). You may find my website of interest. www.gpsdeclassified.com
It’s funny that you mentioned that.
Similar thought came to mind in light of all the controversial did-we-really-go-to-the-moon youtube “documentaries”...
I suppose the 1966 DEC PDP-1 crude computer technology, gel lead acid batteries, skimpy shielding from the deadly Van Allen Radiation Belt and micro-meteorites were amply sufficient for multiple lunar space missions... ;n)
Strange how it’s such a big deal to go back to the moon in light of today’s huge technological advances?
Let me guess: When it re-opens, it will be playing a loop from “Hidden Figures”, with a fighter plane from Red Tails overhead.
That's what I found strange. Couldn't it wait until after the anniversary? I would have thought that the artifacts would have been spiffied up *for* the anniversary, not shuttled off to a government warehouse.
What are they going to replace it with?
A Muslim Bomb making exhibit?
Sounds like they don’t want to give Trump a backdrop next July.
Sad to hear that it's going, but since it A) supports American exceptionalism, and B) doesn't blame the US for anything, it was only a matter of time before it was removed. Probably got to make room for a transgenders in space exploration exhibit. Thanks ETL.
