Funny you should say mythic.
Buried in the press release on the closure of the exhibit FOREVER - “The exhibit will be closed as the Smithsonian has now received documents from NASA indicating that men never did reach the surface of the moon. It was all done on a Hollywood set, at a time when the Cold War had reached it’s peak.”
I imagine it will take longer for the remodel - but it would be cool if the NEW exhibit could open next year for the Golden Anniversary of the first landing on the moon? I mean Hollywood set?
It’s funny that you mentioned that.
Similar thought came to mind in light of all the controversial did-we-really-go-to-the-moon youtube “documentaries”...
I suppose the 1966 DEC PDP-1 crude computer technology, gel lead acid batteries, skimpy shielding from the deadly Van Allen Radiation Belt and micro-meteorites were amply sufficient for multiple lunar space missions... ;n)
Strange how it’s such a big deal to go back to the moon in light of today’s huge technological advances?
