The superhero pic dives into North American theaters on Dec. 21. James Wan's Aquaman made a giant splash in its China debut, grossing $93.6 million to land the top showing ever for a DC comic book adaptation two weeks ahead of its U.S. debut. Aquaman — starring Jason Momoa in the titular role — also marks the biggest opening ever in China for any Warner Bros. title, besting Ready Player One by 66 percent.

Among Warner Bros./DC movies, it launched 92 percent ahead of Justice League and 78 percent ahead of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Plus, it has already exceeded the entire lifetime gross of Wonder Woman.

Aquaman also delivered the biggest industry opening in China for the month of December, commanding 85 percent of market share. Imax sites in the Middle Kingdom turned in a mighty $9.7 million.

So now Amber Heard can count her own money and stop trying to bankrupt Johnny Depp. Or maybe that ‘War of the Roses’ is not about money at all.

From your link:

“current continuity timeline where she’s the chief of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s A.I. Division. Ok, she’s a stereotypical Asian brainiac, but she’s also a devout Muslim so that cancels out the stereotype.”

This article is the same BS that has me foaming at the mouth since 2012.

In this sentence we see the overall message: Marvel is racist because they won’t make asian superhero characters. “Why, Marvel.. Is it because you think that only white men can be heros?” which is followed by “Stereotypical brainiacs. Why, Maurice Mitchell... Is it because you think that all smart people are asian?”

Followed up by my favorite line “But she’s a devout Muslim so that cancels out that stereotype” which really means that she WOULD be a brainiac, were she not a devout muslim. I agree, but it’s clear that Maurice elevates her status as a ridiculous d-list comic book character because of the Muslim status. And the Asian status. God, all racists should be so easy to point out.

I guess DC may be making a comeback at the movies. We’ll see.

I could take you to downtown Fort Worth any weekday noon and show you dozens of women walking to lunch who are much prettier than Amber Heard.

“I guess DC may be making a comeback at the movies.”

Maybe. I believe next in line are Shazam and The Joker (starring Joaquin Phoenix).

“I guess DC may be making a comeback at the movies.”

Just a trivia note: Marvel can’t use Fu Manchu anymore because they lost the rights to the character. Last I heard MOKF father will remain nameless in the film.

What we need is a movie featuring one super-hero or another beating the dogshite out of Bill Maher.

Revive and repeat, repeatedly.

If DC would get the suits out of the way and just respect their source material, they would do fine... but they just can’t seem to help themselves.

Wonder Woman was the first time in a long time they did...

Man of Steel was aweful. Superman is not dark, brooding or conflicted. He knows exactly who he is and he is better than us, period.

Batman v Superman doesn’t need a stupid and pointless lex Luther plot line to cause conflict... their personalities and driving motivations are all that is needed, but can’t respect the characters do slap dash some crap plot line to trigger it.

Aquaman has always been one of my favorite characters and once the announced who was playing the character I was concerned, they would ruin him as well (like they did Hal Jordan by casting Ryan Renolds for the role). Aquaman isn’t just some muscle bound brute, dropping snarky comments... and I was afraid when he was cast.. JL seems like they kept that in check... it isn’t perfect but they managed not to destroy the character... will see if I feel the same after the dedicated movie.

I think the estate of William Moulton Marston had something to say about that, since they still have some say over how DC Comics handles the Wonder Woman copyright.

If the rumors about Amber Heard are true, she’d be looking at the pretty women too.
