I went to Catholic schools, back in the day. I was a real wise ass. After getting whacked over the knuckles with the steel ruler Sister Rita James told me something I’ve never forgotten. ‘’Young man’’, she said ‘’Never discount the spiritually transforming experience of pain’’.
I went to a Catholic grade school too, and I got into trouble on a regular basis...I am pretty sure George Lucus got the idea of Darth Vader’s uniform from Catholic nuns. When I was studying improv at Second City in Chicago, we did a skit called Sister Mary Vader, it was pretty funny. In this class the kids didn’t screw around or they were taken out by Sister Mary Vader.
Yes...the experience did me more good than harm. Forced me to behave & I found out that I good perform academically at a high level.
