Kangaroos have that short a life span?
Sounds like my college days....
To me, the Roos are scary up close, sometimes entertaining from a distance. They function at a primitive state, but have a lot of intelligence. I get the impression that most adult Roos are as crabby as Ostriches or Camels, and do not like most people at all. All three animals have a mean streak.
Somehow, I don’t get the impression that they bite. Everytime I see a photo of them, their mouths are clamped shut. I think they could cause a lot of damage by clubbing, scratching or kicking a foe. I’ve heard of these animals purposely trying to drag unleashed dog into the water for the purpose of drowning them.
When my father was flying on missions out of Okinawa in WWII they shipped in supplies from Australia which included kangaroo meat. He said it didn’t taste that great but was better than Army rations.
Yes - I’ve had roo burgers. Couldn’t tell you what a steak would taste like, but the burger was ‘muskier’ than beef or deer. More like a strong mutton...if I had to put a name to it.
Could have been the seasoning though - not sure. Only had the one opportunity. It isn’t necessarily popular, more of a tourist thing from what I recall. But people ate it in a pinch I guess. This was about 25 years back so not even sure it’s allowed anymore with everything else that has changed down under. I remember most locals hated them because they were such a nuisance.
tie me kangaroo down, sport?
You can buy a can of Campbell’s kangaroo tail soup and find out!
Have had KangaROO in a macaROOnie dish.
People were hopping mad!...................
Lots of info. here. Rather interesting, actually, especially the efficiency of locomotion, and the ability to delay a pregnancy in progress.

I wonder if any ancient predators, say, 100 lbs. or more, hopped? My daughter has had a couple of pet frogs, and their ability to pounce on prey from a distance is quite impressive.
I think Jack in the Box got busted for serving ROO meat
Can you eat a kangaroo?............
.......................................
Yes
Look at a T-Rex. Same leg and tail structure as a kangaroo.
Can’t imagine a T-Rex hopping about though.
