Lots of spiritual wisdom in your experience that shouldn’t be dismissed.
Thank your for sharing it.

...a like-minded person with whom to face a very hostile world, and maybe laugh at it a little...

great observation.

I’m just sour because mine didn’t work, don’t mind me!

Neither did mine. Good luck to you.

I've known people who've built long-lasting marriages on whirlwind romances that lasted a week. Meanwhile, my ex and I were together for years before we married.

I've long wondered whether I let a soulmate slip away 31 years ago, someone I met while traveling. Last I saw him, he was boarding a plane. He lived far away, and he seemed to be the "bad boy" type. So I took the safer route with a "nice guy" close to home. It turns out, "nice guys" aren't always nice, and sometimes the "bad boys" are the good guys. But, I didn't know that at 23.

I have a cousin in northern Michigan who I thought would never, ever get married, let alone ever have a girlfriend. Not attractive at all and kind of a jerk when I knew him.

Hard worker, always self employed and the best damn fisherman I ever knew.

About 12 years ago when he was maybe 56, he met a Filipino lady via an internet dating site and eventually married her. Turns out they were a match made in heaven. She was the daugher of a professional fisherman, highly educated and worked for a high government official.

She helps with his power coating business and on off days they fish, either on soft water or ice fishing. Then when they vacation to Florida, they fish ponds for pan fish..........LOL!

I met my wife at a party on May 23. We were married in June 25. And that was 38 years, 3 kids, and 4 grandchildren ago. We are still waiting to see if it will last, because it’s not been 38 years.

No significant debt; we are George and Mary Bailey rich...

I know a good number of families from India. Some literally met at the altar. As far as I know, happily married. I don’t know how, but it works

Funny thing is, this is truly why it’s considered “proper” to wait until marriage.

When you get what you want from people with no commitment, you are really telling them that they are optional. I’ve been made optional by many women too.

When there is a concrete commitment, things move forward “correctly”. Something that people don’t even understand until it happens.

Good luck to you as well. You can wonder about that one that got away, but just by default, it wasn’t meant to be. I am glad that some of my early boyfriends didn’t work out because I didn’t always know quite what I was looking for or who would be a good match, but I do joke, with enough truth to it, really, that to be dumped by me is one of the best ways to become a millionaire ever.

Started officially dating the week before Valentine's day, proposed to on Easter, married the week after Memorial day.

Friends said we were out of our minds.

First marriage for both of us.

Last marriage for both of us.

I thank God every night that He sent him to me.

Sometimes you just know it is right.
