I agree. In this day and age, I think there are few people -- either with a family member and less so with a stranger -- who would greet the "revelation" of homosexuality with distraught cries of "Shame! Humiliation! The family name is ruined! You are dead to me!"
Back in the 50s and 60s that reaction might have been expected. It's 2019. One may disapprove (as I do) but this is just not a shocking perversion that dare not speak its name. Not any longer.
