Sounds extreme, but I'll play along for the sake of discussion, which you wouldn't allow under your dictatorship.

In that vain, how do you expect to become the "dictator" to be a able to carry out all of your "fantasies"? At the point of a gun?

Because unless you are Maduro in Venezuela, or Castro in Cuba or Little Fat Boy in North Korea who control the elections in their favor through armed force and intimidation, you would never be able get elected the way we do it here. Which dictator in history do you aspire to emulate?

You probably don't see the irony is wanting to be a dictator in a country that was founded on freedoms, which your "dictatorship" would eliminate.

Remember, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Without checks and balances, laws, and proper institutions in place, tyrants and dictators will consolidate power and cause a tremendous amount of suffering and death to its populace.

My advice is to go back to sleep and dream of some other way to "rule" the country that prides itself on individual freedoms and limited government.

I’m only going to be a dictator for a day. After that we can go back to our democracy

I think the piece was written somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but the points are salient. However, rather than imposing them from the top down, dictator fashion, I'd prefer that we, as a moral people, push them from the ground up, and that we stop empowering people who implement practices abhorrent to our values.

We elect school board members who promote homosexuality in our classrooms. We elect zoning commissioners who prevent small businesses from sprouting. We elect mayors who assume tyrannical powers to regulate what soda we can drink and force landlords to rent to undesirables. We allow judges to legislate and legislators to oppress.

WE do that. And the scum that floats to the top simply takes advantage of us. We don't need a dictator -- even one with good ideas. We need a people who vote their conscience and refuse to be bullied by political correctness.
