Trump could lose a few pounds but using BMI to determine obesity is a joke. Trump was a top tier athlete scouted by the Yankees, but he had no interest in baseball (better money in real estate). Peak athletes can have excessively high BMI even thought they have low body fat.
The government BMI index was developed in the 30s by insurance companies. Now, think back to what was happening in the thirties, and how people were probably not getting enough to eat or they were eating very poorly and may have even been malnourished. It was called the Great Depression and my mama told me that they were always able to eat at least one meal a day and she was in a family of 13 children all of which but one survive to adulthood. And her father was a fortunate laborer at a dairy farm, so they had a tenant arrangement which allowed them to grow vegetables and get plenty of dairy to supplement their diet.
That’s said, it would be very simple for POTUS to consult with his chef and arrange for a caloric intake of say 1200 to 2000 calories per day and his weight would be down to a very manageable level in a matter of months.
Given the stresses of his role as president of the United States, it might be something for him to consider.
I weigh exactly what I weighed when playing college baseball at 19. I’m 5’9 and weighed 168 this morning, I will admit that my waist is 4 inches larger than in my athletic days, and I don’t bench anywhere close to 300 anymore.
At my weight, I am 3 pounds under the 25 that is considered overweight. I am, however 62 I’ve had my body fat checked for an insurance company and it’s 12-13, so if you’re fairly muscular on top, you can be in exceptional shape and be overweight. Virtually every NFL player will be overweight to obese.
