We got Trump because the United States has a responsible, dedicated CORE who knew exactly what they believed in, and the sense to recognize a man of like mind and great ability who could help them - and he’s helped us quite a lot, doing so fearlessly, intelligently, and by expressing himself in a perspicuous manner.
You can intellectualize the logistics of voting all you want; but in the end it DOES come down to ‘feeling’ - or perhaps we should say ‘intuition’. People base decisions upon the stimuli and perceptions received from many sources and different levels -
And a lot of what really thoughtful people decide to believe in profoundly, comes true.
We managed to get Trump One. I’m convinced that we will have Trump Two in 2020.
Maybe you just haven’t done well in arguing them OUT of liberalism.
I convinced my husband out of it 20 years ago - though he was probably more apolitical than ‘liberal’. (And he became a signed-up Freeper even before I was :-)
