I kinda wish I had been a Dicks customer so I could take my business away from them. But honestly, I think the last time I purchased anything from them was probably 5 or 6 years ago and it was just some minor fishing tackle. We get most of our outdoor gear from Bass Pro or a couple of small specialty shops in the area.

There’s a Dicks nearby. It’s a great place to try stuff on...and then order online from another company.

Stay away from Dick’s. It’s easier to purchase items on the internet at more reasonable prices. Sen them a message.

The only reason I ever shopped at dicks was because you could get a case of shotgun shells with a coupon and a Remington rebate and end up paying about $40 total. Once they stopped honoring the coupons on Ammo, I stopped going.

How can you have a ‘sporting goods’ store without ‘sporting goods’?..........................

Well if Dick’s is going to get rid of all firearms they might as well just get rid of all shooting and hunting and fishing gear and stick to team sports, racket sports, golf, and workout gear.

Close a few brick-and-mortar stores, reduce counter staff because they will no longer need them for shooting/hunntin/fishing sports and they might just stay viable.

Personally, I never really considered Dick’s to be a hunting fishing and shooting store. That’s what Gander Mountain and Bass Pro and several other big box hunting fishing supply stores do.

But Dicks doesn’t have to go there.

Maybe they never should have. Maybe they should keelhaul the twit that took them there when they weren’t really meant to be in that market.

Maybe it’s another one of those “New Coke” failures that we always hear about him business school and read about in trade magazines.

In our area, on hearing this news, Rural King is doing backflips of joy, er, profits!

A supplier of mine from a previous life worked at Dick’s Corporate just as Junior was fully taking over. Everyone loved the old man but thought Junior was a smarmy little pr*ck. The best talent has already bailed.

Collector’s Firearms in Houston hung a banner outside its store a while back. “We still sell AR-15s, we aren’t Dicks”

(from investors.com)

“Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS) shares plunged Tuesday after it announced it will stop selling firearms at 125 stores and miss same-store sales estimates. Sales at the chain dipped last year when it stopped selling assault rifles and high-capacity magazines following a high school shooting in Parkland, Florida.”

They don't care if you pitch the tried-on stuff right to the dirty floor either.

lol

It makes sense, having already angered gun owners, I imagine few of them were still shopping at Dicks — I didn’t know they even HAD any guns anymore.

Same here, I stopped shopping there when this insanity first popped up. I drive by one every day on the way to and from work and just cant wait for the going out of business signs. Too bad, I use to love their fishing section....

I stopped going to Dick’s years ago when the store manager had to escort me outside to my truck after purchasing a Ruger 10/22. This, despite the fact I was carrying concealed in a Constitutional Carry state.
