A modest proposal. With downsizing since the Cold War, there must be lots of military billets around the Washington area. Simply house the congressional staff in enlisted squad bays, put up the single representatives in bachelor officers quarters, the married ones in family housing. Nancy can have the commandant’s quarters. Run buses to and from the Capitol every 15 minutes.
Representatives get a driver and a jeep (for those days when there’s more than three inches of snow in DC), and Nancy gets a staff car.
If such billeting doesn’t already exist, build it.
There is precedent. The vice president stays in the quarters that formerly housed the director of the Naval Observatory.
