Interesting. Maybe we should all show up at his house and ask him about this.

Not sure how to feel about this. I understand the frustration on the part of the gun rights activist and have to scratch my head at why this bill was taking so long to move through a deep red legislature.

But on the other hand, lawmakers are people too and have families and as such, cannot be put under siege by the masses (like Democrats do).

I think what this episode demonstrates more than anything is the people’s growing frustrations with government at all levels. They’re sick and tired of voting for people who promise to do certain things but then fail repeatedly to deliver on them or even move on them.

I fear a reckoning is coming that will be really destructive for our country and I don’t want to see it.

“McNutt”? A gun advocate?

Almost as an inconvenient name as Buttigieg.

Sounds like he was looking for an excuse to “nix” it.

The capitol building in Austin is full of guns. I’ve carried in there many times. This fellow is surrounded by guns constantly.

Left wingers implicitly threatening folks they disagree with, nothing new. It’s how they operate.

I don’t blame the Texas’s Republican House Speaker at all.

What the hell?!

If activists show up at any democrats office asking about legislation they’d double down.

This twit drops the bill?

It’s insane and he needs to be taken out of office.

I’m not torn about this at all - he obviously NEVER believed in the legislation and obviously hates talking to his constituents but hey, one passionate guy bans the legislation for all?

Madness and typical of these RINOs

I don’t thin people should bother politicians in their own homes, but I think this guy was just looking for an excuse to drop the bill.

Mcnutt obviously never watched “school house rocks”. That’s not how bills are argued.

I can’t understand how people still consider Texas to be a red state. It surely operates like a dem paradise.

I also think a lot of good lawmakers were terrified after what happened at a certain baseball game in the park.

You have to wonder about the legislator’s response.

Does it mean he is dropping a pretense that they were really going to move the bill? Or is he reacting negatively, and in a “pay back” fashion, to what he felt was intimidation; attempting to suggest the bill might have otherwise had a chance? Or would that be just a cover for the true story? Maybe in time we’ll know the answer.

Oh my God! You mean our rulers don’t get to live in anonymity? Inviolate in their home? The world outside is risky?

Welcome to the party pal. Texas gun laws are ridiculously backwards, and heavily restrictive. The DPS has far too much influence in such legislation
