I live at that exact corner when I was just 18 years old in an apartment building called the Wellington Spruce. Everyday I walked home for lunch and one day, an ambulance was just driving off (no lights or siren) and the building super was hosing down the sidewalk. Turns out my neighbor from across the hall was dumped by his boyfriend so he decided to drink bleach, hit himself in the head with a hammer and jump out of the 4th story window.
The race of the rapists and robbers comes as such a great, shocking surprise. I was expecting to see Norwegians or Finns in the surveillance photos /sarc>

I left Philly in the late 90’s after living there with my family for 10 yrs. The day I left, a pregnant woman was raped in one of the open air stairwells in Center City (as in, you can see straight down the stairs, there is plenty of natural light, and people walking by) in the middle of the afternoon.
I haven’t looked back.
btw - Why anyone is carrying $300 in cash these days is beyond me. I’m 65; it’s not an age thing. Most people know how to use a debit card. Shoot, even the Amish where I live now use debit cards in the grocery.
