Kelly Stafford, wife of Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, gave the public an update Easter Sunday after undergoing 12 hours of brain surgery which was supposed to only last six hours.

The surgery, explained Stafford in an Instagram post, was supposed to last some six hours, but the risky procedure ended up taking double that amount of time due to complications along the way. Stunningly, her main surgeon had written a paper on the rare complication he encountered working on her brain. Stafford, an open Christian, called this "Gods work" and credited prayer for the operations success.
"This Easter is the beginning of a new life for me," she wrote. "I wanna take a second to thank all of you for all the prayers. They have worked. I know they have."
Stafford explained that an "abnormal vein" caused complications for the medical team. "When they opened me up, I had an abnormal vein.. maybe abnormal for other neurosurgeons, but not the one We chose," she said. "He had seen it before and written a paper on it. Thats truly Gods work."
"The prayers for my family, Im beyond thankful for," Stafford continued. "A six hour surgery went to 12 hours and although they were anxious and scared, your prayers got them through. Thank you. Thank you so much."
"Now I am home and learning my new norm. Itll take some time, but I really just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for all your support, thoughts and prayers. It means more than yall will ever know," she added.
Great news.

God Blessed her and her surgeons.
Glad to hear, thanks for posting.
WOOOOHOOOO Kelly1
Incredible story.
She truly received Easter blessings of strength and renewal.
What can be done via brain surgery today is amazing stuff. We had a church member undergo brain surgery. 5 years ago, the tumor was considered to be inoperable. He got it removed before Christmas. Other than a slight slur of speech, and a scar, you cant tell the difference.
He now jokes that he really has only half a brain. The tumor was only pecan sized, but it was in a bad location.
I wonder who the surgeon was. There used to be a guy in Pittsburgh who specialized in acoustic neuromas.
I couldn’t stand the Lions when I lived in the Detroit area but am a huge fan of Matthew Stafford, and still am. He is a real stand-up guy and a patriotic American.
Stafford is the modern-day Archie Manning, good quarterback on a bad team.
Praise be to God.
Glad she made it through the procedure. Brain surgery is by definition non-trivial. Have always admired Stafford, even though he was a Dawg (THWG!).
Continue on the road to recovery Mrs Stafford and enjoy your family.
