Before this train, the trip from downtown to the airport took forty minutes to an hours. Now, eight minutes.
So, previously the average speed to drive to the airport
was 30 mph or less sometimes as low as 15mph?
Remember, distance is 19 miles.

Perhaps one needs to see the people going to the airport.
Are they farmers with baskets of chickens?
Or party apparachniks on government business or pleasure?
I don’t think it’s baskets of chickens or goats.

Whether the insertion in fact had the effect described, I do not know, and the story maybe or may not be sensationalized. Of interest are, first, that it was an attempt to engineer intelligence, second, that it involved inserting a human gene in a (presumably) lower primate, and third, that the Chinese did it.
The question then becomes, what are they going to insert
into Chinese brains???

I've taught Chinese students, and worked with Chinese engineers, here in the U.S. The Chinese are not stupid. Moreover, they outnumber us several to one. They can be a major threat if they decide to be. Our goal ought to be to turn them into allies, or better yet, friends.

The Chinese aren't stupid, and there are a lot of them. We need to be concerned about them.
