I liked FreeCell. When I taught an introductory course on C++, I had students build a text version. The program had three types of stack objects. Each stack inherited from the basic stack and and had modified methods to implement the variants. One of my students got extra credit by writing the code to play the game.
The Microsoft version guaranteed that 99.9% of the beginning stacks were solvable. Their were supposedly one or two starting stacks which could not be solved.

Thanks for that! Brings back memories.

During the years of computer support Solitaire and Mahjong saved my sanity while waiting for work-related programs to install - so yes it deserves it’s place of honor.

Pong.
Yes, the very first computer game I played. It got more interesting the more beer I drank. For some reason my ability went down the more I drank. I still wonder about that.

A lot of office workers learned quickly the keyboard shortcut command for the minimize window button - for when the boss was walking by.

I agree.
I can win easily on a fresh OS install, but not so much after playing a number of games.
