Our church has a community / food bank garden. About 70-80% is given to the food bank, the rest taken by volunteers as payment unless used by the church in preparing communal meals.
All the volunteers are white, mostly retirees. Most of the recipients are Hispanic and black. And we live in a barely majority white area.
The takers at our church’s Christmas gift programs are almost exclusively aliens (legal and illegal) and minority.
The donors? Older white couples.
