Look who is going the other way at 2:40.
You can’t worry about sharks, or you will miss the enjoyment of the ocean.

Shark is one thing there, the salt water crocodiles are what I worry more about in those waters.
“Stan Battles reportedly took the video Wednesday morning from his balcony on the 28th floor of a resort. ...”
The outlet reported Battles had been watching the shark for a couple of hours in murkier waters until it swam into a clearer area, which is when the woman swam by. Thats when he started filming the shark.”
So, instead of filming, why in hell didn’t he try to warn her or notify the authorities? I guess it’s a sign of the fast deteriorating times we’re living in.
An encounter with a shark is one of my worst nightmares.
That woman really isolated herself.
Now, an oceanic white tip, I am out of the water yesterday.
This reminds me of a time my Daughter was swimming in Ponce de Leon Springs. After a while I told her it was time to go. She kept begging me to let her swim a little longer.
Finally I was about to just tell her we had to go. Then I noticed a sign warning of alligators.
Now there is probably less than one chance in a thousand of a gator being in the springs but it took only one glance at it and she was ready to go.
You know, professional courtesy and all that!
😜
Maybe a reef shark- in shallow water, or most likely a nurse shark— NOT interested in the swimmer whatsoever, no matter who is “interpreting” the intentions. Stirring up mud— bottom feeding.
A bit of info- for most Atlantic coast beaches (this is the Gulf)— there are always— always sharks of different types, out just beyond the start of the breakers. Surfers know this— they see them all the time. Why? Because that is where the bait fish are schooling and moving, and also being chased by other smaller predator fish the sharks like to feed on. Another point- sharks can only feed so much— but still will brush against surfers legs (down the lateral sensor line on the shark) and maybe nibble. Rarely do sharks come into the breakers because of the confusion of noise the water (and people) make. But— smaller sharks will and they can bite (sand sharks particularly).
If one want’s shark free water— don’t go in the ocean, and if in Australia- always swim inside the shark netted areas.
BTW she did not swim “directly over”. The dude filming it— irresponsible in any case. It clearly wasn’t the man- eater types— white, tiger, — the more aggressive known species.
Know the critters, and learn how to respond- short of carrying a bang stick.
There is like 3 or 4 wayz to die that I find particularly horrifying. Burning alive, Drowning, Smothering/buried alive, being eaten by a bear/shark. Good grief.
Vertical fricken video alert.
