‘Humans in Black’: Star of ‘Men in Black’ wants the franchise to have a more inclusive name by John Gage | June 12, 2019 07:13 PM Print this article Tessa Thompson, who stars as Agent M in the film "Men in Black: International," said she wants to see the franchise's name changed at some point to make it more inclusive for women.

"I pitched some ideas like 'People in Black,' but that would be 'PiB,' which sounds like a sandwich. I pitched 'Humans in Black,' which would be 'HiB,' which sounds like something you don't want to get," Thompson said Tuesday at the movie's premiere.

"I think we can change the name at some point. But the truth is, I think it's really significant, and I hope we can get to the space where it's not noteworthy when women topline these films, and I think a film like this helps us get there."

I may watch this movie, if it’s any good, when it comes to tv, but it sounds like they’re just stealing the concept. Without Will Smith (whom I think is a good actor, but a racist jerk pretending to be a nice guy) and Tommy Lee Jones (another great actor, who, thankfully, doesn’t try to insert his politics into every role he plays), there IS no MIB. But they’re too old for those roles, anyway. If they even threw Josh Brolin in there, it might help, but they didn’t. Let’s see if they’re going to screw it up with sex, violence, and foul language, all of which were absent from the originals yet they were highly entertaining.

That must mean I should have been offended by “Working Girl” circa 1989, as even a title like that must have been non inclusive gender wise.

Yeah, but Ripley was a real character in her own right, not just female for the sake of being female.

Everything doesn’t have to be “more inclusive”. Some things are what they are. I really doubt anyone but that dingbat has said: “you know I would go see and Men In Black if it were only more inclusive.”

The really funny thing is … she could not even HAVE this conversation had it not been for the efforts of Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. If this was the first movie in the franchise, there would be no discussion because the goal would be mass marketability. However, since she is now coming into an established franchise, she wants to upset the apple cart because she is “oh so important” … rather than just the bimbo they hired to try to get a couple more bucks out of something that used to be successful. Don’t know who she is, and as much as I enjoyed the franchise in past iterations, by speaking up the way she did, now I know I would watch this iteration.

Cater to the diversity mafia and rather than be grateful for the pity hire they think they run the franchise. There is a lesson here.

It can co-show with “Voluptuous Vixens in Black” on Cinemax Friday night at 11pm.

All this “in Black” doesn’t seem very diverse.
Why not, “Maggots in Magenta” or “Peckerwoods in Puce”?
