Wired UK reported on a new wave of 3D-printed gun enthusiasts sharing plans for firearms on places like Discord and online gun control forums. These would-be gunsmiths are sharing plans for everything from Glock 17 handguns to AR-15s with a renewed enthusiasm for the lawless dissemination of digital firearms blueprints. They call their group Deterrence Dispensed, which is an obvious reference to Defense Distributed, the organization that started the 3D-printed gun debate in the United States
So it sounds like a like game, but its a game that revolves around the creation and dissemination of 3D-printed gun blueprints. The actual manufacturing or selling of 3D-printed guns has already been banned by the New York state legislature and is also illegal in the United Kingdom. It is, however, troubling to see an international outgrowth of the 3D-printed gun movement find its way back into the headlines.
We dont know where the recently convicted Muswere got the plans to 3D-print a gun of his own, but we do know that he was able to do it. Thats the next scary phase of this threatening technological movement. Theres not an organization that one can necessarily connect to the discovery of a 3D-printed gun. The plans are out in the open, on the internet. People with means can use them to print firearms and maybe more will come up with obscure

“Look out, he’s got an inaccurate, lightweight and low caliber single shot gun!”
What is it about the Left wing in the West that breeds such intellectualy challenged absolute wusses?
(I know: the Cultural Marxism ... they’re what was wanted)
Better watch out, Adam - pretty soon we’ll be 3D printing nukes!
What is it with people who supposedly deal with data for a living that leads them to think it can be suppressed? It's 1's and 0's, guys, and it's already out there. And it isn't "lawless" any more than sharing a Facebook post is.
It's legal to design a firearm. It's legal to share that design. It's legal to make your own firearm. It's legal to own and operate your own routers, lathes, milling machines, and the like. It's legal to purchase materials such as steel and aluminum that might (shudder!) be made into something. And it's legal to share information. There isn't anything scary about it. What is scary is people who would construct a police state and take technology back a millennium to soothe their hysterical fears.
The hell with printed guns. I wanna become a real threat to society - I’m gonna learn how to 3-D print plastic straws! (.25 cal should be just about right)
In times of oppression, like WWII in occupied France, improvised firearms became an integral part of the arsenal for resistance fighters. With the push for socialism and globalism there might become a time where the only arms available to freedom fighters will be 3D printed guns. The continuing push for disarmament from democrats scares me more than anything else they do, it’s obvious they intend to completely disarm the american people and shut down the manufacture of guns for civilians. There will come a time where it’ll be crucial to be able to manufacture guns at home if we are to remain free.
Well, legal here - not in the UK.
While I agree it’s just “bits and bytes” flying around the internet, you could say that about other illegal material, like child porn.
Impossible to stop though.
“the lawless dissemination of digital firearms blueprints”
Right, because a law against “dissemination of blueprints” totally wouldn’t contradict the 1st Amendment or anything.
So steel tubes and metal lathes are monsters in our midst?
Scary because it is something that can’t be controlled by the elites and their ineffective gun laws?
Adam doesn't know that...
Or... You could just become a gunsmith and make them.
That’s the thing with technology, after you make it, it will be made again and again and again. The wheel for instance... Try eliminating the wheel... OR... What about the nuclear bomb... Wouldn’t it be nice to dis-invent the nuclear bomb... But it isn’t going to happen, so keep your bomb shelter stocked with guns.
Man, even at a pretty leftwing tech site like Gizmodo the forum posters are lampooning this idiot.
So you are saying drill presses and milling machines will go away?
Check out this short video for a peek into the not so distant future...
Forgive my ignorance, but it seems to me a 3-d print of these things on most widely available printers would be more danger to the user than to anyone else, if actually fired. If they had the money to get a machine that printed in metal I would guess they’d have the money to get the actual thing.
It was well received.
