Brooks Falls in Alaska's Katmai National Park is the best place in the world to watch brown bears feasting on salmon as they swim upstream to spawn.
Find out the best time to watch live and learn more about Katmai and its brown bears
Curious you only mention brown bears.
Some kind of racist or something?
:)
Kidding aside, bears are magnificent creatures.
Except when they’re attacking Mr. Edwards on “Little House on the Prairie”
But I digress...
Right in time, as the birds on the live nest cams are fledging. Once the owls and eagles fledge, I switch to the bears :-)
I flew to near that location in a float plane, then into a small boat to fish where a small river emptied out of the rocks. We were very close (<50’) to brown bears who were also fishing.
I never knew bears swam upstream to spawn. You learn something every day.
We were able to view the west Texas hummers thanks to explore and Perky Pet. Perky Pet pulled their sponsor ship and the feed vanished the end of last season. This feed was about the only avian feed watched. The hummers hold a certain fascination. :-)
EAGLES - the thought always brings to mind the John Belushi movie, “Continental Divide”
Right on dp! Bears are magnificent creatures! They are around up here and I have had a few ‘close encounters’ as they say. Quiet, stealthy and very fast movers when they WANT to be. I like to watch them tromp around, but only from inside looking out! There was one around a few years ago, who looked extremely rough and tough, that I had nicknamed Luca Brasi!
Funny and informative :)
I’ve been watching this little guy:

Occasionally both parents come to the nest at the same time.
I love it!!!!!
Liberals are invited to get close to nature by helping the mother brown bears feed their cubs.
You mean they need to take the cubs from her so that the government can care for them properly.
I just want to see them get near the cubs.
I have been to Katmai National Park before but not to Brooks Falls. Took a float plane into Hallo Bay. These bears are quite huge at 25 yards and with no electric fencing.
The cubs are the cutest! Mama watches them closely. Papa bear eventually becomes less foreboding to them at which time, the little ones interact with him. He’s definitely the boss.
Last year a little cub died. Very disturbing to the faithful viewers. Never heard the reason for death, but for several days one could see there was something not right. Mama was devastated.
With POTUS TRUMP now in office, it was thought this site might not be available any longer (budgets and money) Fortunately, they seem to still be in business with a wide selection of nature and live cams in America’s National Parks.
LOL! Oh, to be a bear and give him such a big bear hug!
Thank you, POTUS!
In the early evening there are two guys on that channel who act as sportscasters and give a play by play of the bears.
“Bob, it’s beautaful day here at Katami falls.
Tom: Yes it is, Bob. I see 341 is situated at her favorite spot at the top of the plunge pool and really has perfected her technique at catching salmon. Wait a minute...a younger male is approaching and might challenge her. He appears to be a new bear, one we’ve not seen before..., DID YOU SEE THAT? She gave his a low head swing sideways glance an he skedaddled back to where he came from...”
