I’m curious.

Did Huxley predict the future of education?

The shift from memorization of facts to moral platitudes indoctrinated into kids from their earliest years.

If you are not staring at your phone, tv, or computer.. and you are a dreamer, or a thinking man like Huxley.. they will all point and say ‘look, look, he is not one of us’ then they will gawk at you like the savage who had real emotions in the brave new world.

One day soon.. we are getting close.

In BRAVE NEW WORLDS, Huxley talks about babies being "grown in petrie dishes, the word "mother" becoming almost like a curse word and shocking, people taking "soma" ( a feel good drug ), small children being taught all about sex in school, and the populace being set apart in groups...according to their IQs and wearing different kinds of clothes, to differentiate the groups, which are labeled "alpha" ( as the highest ), "beta" and so forth.

It has been a great many decades since I read the book ( as part of the three books required for summer reading ), but a lot of it has stuck in my memory!

A good friend has deemed our public schools as “failure factories”, churning out students who are barely literate, cannot do simple math and are ignorant of history, geography and especially science. We now see young people who now cannot read or write cursive or even tell time on an analogue clock.

Huxley said he wrote the book as a warning but made a mistake in placing it far into the future. He said it was much nearer than he thought.

While I’ve never read Huxley’s novel, I have to disagree with the premise of the linked article. What is occurring in today’s schools (and throughout the broader culture) is not a moral education at all, but an immoral one.

As C.S. Lewis pointed out in the Abolition of Man and Mere Christianity, There is only one legitimate set of moral values. The attempt to impose any value system which does not conform to human reason or experience is thus indoctrination; it is forcing others to agree to the concept that 2+2=5. This is not a moral education at all, but tyranny.

A truly moral education, one in conformity with true teleologically sound moral principals - not in opposition to them - is actually a good thing.

2+2=5 or another way of saying that there are more than two sexes.

It also explains why social justice is liberal political dogma, their political ideology invested with religious levels of devotion.

SJWs = social justice jihadis

The routine drugging of people who don’t fit an idealized stereotype is certainly in that direction.

You’re an introvert? You may have social anxiety, can we push these antidepressants?

You’re grieving the loss of a spouse of 50-60 years? You may be grocery shopping and going to church, but you’re still crying after six months. Can I offer pills?

I defended my grandmother on that one. That if you were together 50+ years, grieving for 2% of that time or one year is NORMAL. And it wasn’t like she was suicidal or non-functional.
