Happy Sunday all! Have a good Independence Day?
I’m amazed by the variety tonight...the low point is Superman...but The Magnificent Montague, The Amazing Mr. Malone, Theatre Royal, and Best Plays are new names to me...
How are you?

Yeah. Sat here and drank beer 'til 1 AM. LOL No drama. I think I watched a movie (an advantage of having a 32" monitor and stereo speakers with a floor subwoofer makes Netflix and Hulu a good watch). Connie couldn't sleep half the night for all the local pyrotechnics being set off all over the zip code. I almost bought a bass boat on the 2nd (happy birthday to me), but the owner hasn't bothered to return my messages, so I'll find another one in that price range. Maybe I'll just get a little 16' or 17' bowrider or walk-through, as long as it isn't stolen, the trailer tires are good, the hull and deck are solid, and the motor turns over. I'll do the rest from there. I think the deal-killer on the bass boat was, it didn't have a title, but the local PD allegedly ran the numbers on it and it was supposed to be clean. After I got home, I messaged him about needing a little more info to put together a bill of sale for ownership and titling purposes, and after that, all I've gotten is radio silence. I'm doing all I can to keep my tuckus out of hot water these days. I don't need a hot boat parked in my driveway. A shame, too. This thing not only had a 110 HP outboard and solid trolling motor, it also had full gauges, electric bilge pump, aerated livewell, an older generation Humminbird depth finder, and enough under-deck storage space to smuggle half of Guatemala across the border. I kinda though the price he was asking was a little shallow for what was sitting there. I got burned on eBay for a hot tub at a too-good-to-be-true price a couple years ago. I like playing bloodhound a little more now.
Get any riding in the other day?

Yea a stolen boat would be a hassle.
Riding? Absolutely, every day starting around 7am.
On the big night I watched most of Yankee Doodle Dandy on TCM, then scooted around as tens of thousands of people descended to the high school for fireworks. Loved seeing teens the in back of pickups screaming USA. The police did a great job of directing traffic, even I couldn't sneak through an open back road to get closer. One thing I kept thinking of, at least half are Dems. What are they celebrating? Certainly not the sparkle of independence. Dependence on and oppression of government? I suspect they don't think of their beliefs. Anyway, it was a good night. Weather's had a thunderstorm threat each day so I never got to play with the smoker which was annoying.

Glad it went good. Dems are like crows - they're attracted to anything shiny and sparkly. It didn't matter what the celebration was about. They were there for the spectacle - it keeps their itty-bitty widdle brain stems functioning. Our weather has been befouled by these mid-afternoon storms that blow up and wreak havoc. Wind, lightning, torrential rain. I finally got the front of the yard trimmed with the push mower before yesterday's monsoon, and got about a third of the yard cut with the riding mower this evening. The heat index has been pushing triple digits, and between that and that muscle I tore (which still twinges after five weeks), the yard was/is in dire need of attention. I see a couple more days of labor to really get it up to snuff. We almost got hit by a good one a couple hours ago - we got a few big dollops of rain and some pretty impressive wind, but it just glanced off us. It's downright nice out there right now. I'm baking some Rufus Teague Whiskey-Maple BBQ chicken tonight - I thought about getting the smoker going, but that would be another half hour just to uncover it, clean the grates and charcoal box, and get it fired up, and I didn't soak any wood chips. Besides, that would almost certainly guarantee that we'd get a downpour. LOL I've tended to many a grill-out in an unexpected rain. I gotta go shower and make a beer run, then get a can of gas for all the sundry power equipment I'm using. I can hear her now: "Are we gonna eat at 10 PM AGAIN???"

He doesn't want whiskey-maple BBQ chicken and bourbon and brown sugar grillin' beans with country biscuits on the side. Connie got him an industrial-sized box of pizza Hot Pockets. That's all he's been eating. Well, that, and my low-carb yogurt cups. And my strawberry Nutri-Grain bars. And my fake krab meat sticks. And my roast beef and white mountain bread. And my...........Thank God he doesn't like soup. That may be my breakfast and lunch tomorrow, because that might be all that's left. 😆

No, I put a lot of work the last few years into tomatoes and such in containers and didn't see the return on labor. You?
