Vanity Post- Sophie Challenge

My ten year old daughter is trying to help animals in need. She took it upon herself and called our local shelter to see what they need to help take care of the animals. Here’s what the gentleman told her: they need cat and dog food; kitty litter; blankets; paper towels; beds; collars; harnesses; kiddie pools and toys. We are going to get a few of these and take them to our local shelter. I challenge each of you to choose at least one of these items and take it to your local shelter and let them know you are participating in the Sophie Challenge! Thank you and God bless!

TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: animals; charity
I am amazed every day by my daughter and how she serves God. After she spoke to the person at the animal shelter she called the Children's Hospital in Columbia to see what they needed in the way of donations for sick children. She told them she would be working on getting stuff for them too, but it would probably be closer to Christmas before she takes the items (new toys, new books, cell phone chargers, PJs for the kids). We will be doing a Sophie Challenge for them closer to Christmas.

Good job on raising your daughter well.

As for the Sophie challenge: Sort of indirect, but am helping my daughter with her new kitten she got from the shelter last week. Have donated lots of stuff in the past (many towels and blankets, food, aquarium for reptiles/rodents, etc.

Try posting on your NextDoor app, if you use it. Good Luck!

Big time. They screw up people’s lives immeasurably

Well, I have to feed my cat and clean her litterbox daily. Not really much of a burden. In return, she reciprocates the affection I show her. She curls up on my lap and rubs her whiskers against me. I consider it a fair exchange. In addition her presence repels the mice that would be attracted from the neighboring woods. Well worth the price of feeding her and taking her to the vet regularly.
