My summary of the show was

Season 1: escape from prison.

Season 2: stay out of prison.

Season 3+: run off the rails.

It was very much a show that needed to have a planned story arc and end when the story ended rather than trying to squeeze out more seasons from it.

For me it became a dubious world tour of prisons and how to break out of each. Eventually quite boring.
