I am under the impression that we believe that if you could achieve the speed of light, time would stop for you. That means that, from your perspective, you could travel through every point in the universe - even if it is infinite - in a single moment in time.

Putting aside all the major problems with a man traveling the speed of light ... the observable universe is estimated to be 93 billion light years across. So there’s that.

When time stops for you, there is s no way to press the off button, put on the brakes or do anything that takes time to do. So, once you have reached light speed there is no slowing down.
