Is this a racist image? The depiction of a noose over an automobile’s gas tank cover prompted a reporter for Tribune Broadcasting WGN-Channel 9 to say it made her “sick to my stomach.” “Saw this on the way home from work and it made me furious, afraid, and sick to my stomach,” Courtney Gousman wrote on Twitter and Facebook Sunday. “Given the history of the noose and how it was used to murder black Americans, this image speaks volumes — no matter how it’s explained away because it’s plastered on a gas tank. #wideawake.” When a white reader suggested Gousman was “just looking for a reason to be mad,” she replied: “The depiction of a noose was clear enough — gas pump or not. There are plenty of other symbols that could have accomplished this besides this hateful reminder.”

The noose has been used to murder people ever since the rope was invented - there is no particular association of the noose with the murder of black people. In the rush to claim victim status, it's apparently very important for the successful victimologist to claim every possible symbol of victimhood.

Then she would hate to come to my house, there is noose hanging from an old oak tree in the front yard. It was the rope I used to dress deer with, about 10 years ago around Halloween, the kids thought it would be funny to tie it into a noose. And there it has hanged ever since. Of course since I live in rural West Virginia, there are no liberals around to complain.

Look on the bright side, snowflake Courtney. Nooses rock especially when they are around the necks of Saddam Hussein, Nazi war criminals and the like. Because someone committed arson on a building does not mean we should ban photos of matches.

Since when did Negroes get to claim all images of the noose? White people have been using the noose for centuries before they even knew what a Negro was.

And all those Negro geniuses should realize that the word "lynch" does not mean hanging. 'Lynch' means unlawful execution of a suspect without due process. People who where "lynched" could have been shot, stabbed, beaten to death, drowned, or even hanged. And I doubt during the heat of a lynching anyone took the time to wind a tidy executioner's knot. Probably most lynchings were by means other than hanging.
