The United States is working to help end Venezuelas suffering under socialism. Earlier this month, President Trump imposed an embargo on Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduros socialist regime, and last month the House of Representatives voted to grant Temporary Protected Status to Venezuelans in the U.S. Most of those voting in favor of TPS were Democrats, and unfortunately, most Republicans opposed the measure. The GOP is looking at this issue all wrong. Of course, its true that Democrats are pushing for TPS to gain popularity with Venezuelan Americans frightened by their increasingly socialist rhetoric. But, for Republicans, supporting TPS for Venezuelans is really a chance to fight against the socialist movement.

Why? They voted for it.
How about no!
If it didn’t work in Venezuela, surely They can give it a go here. No thanks. Do not want your misguided thinking ruining my life. Go fix your country.
Absolutely not. And, to go further, we need to immediately revoke all current TPS from everywhere, and ensure that they all leave. Now.
TPS is just another Rat program that is abused, misguided, and part of Open Borders.
“Go fix your country.”
Exactly. Give them a copy of the Constitution. Perhaps the American socialists can move down there and help them out...compassionate creeps that they are.
Just look at what happened with Ronald Reagan's (God bless him) temporary status for El Salvadorans. They NEVER WENT BACK. So much for "temporary". Not only did they never return, they brought America the "gift" of MS-13, and human trafficking, and child sex, and drugs of every flavor. In general, the mestizo South Americans are bad news.
We got lucky with Cubans and ended up with a solid R base in Florida.
Maybe coming from the same kind of country they would think more like Cubans did?
I’m likely wrong. Just throwing it out there.
Responses welcome...Without calling my mother names :)
Nuts.
No. What America needs is a twenty year moratorium on all immigration.
From everywhere.
Cubans had socialism imposed on them.
Venezuelans voted for it.
No. We don’t need the population of an entire country coming here so we can support them, too. The V’s voted for their government and are now paying the consequences. Elections are important, idiots.
I WAS thinking that.
And the mother comment was from “The Money Pit” :)
Doesn’t mean much if one hasn’t seen it and it’s not exactly “Gone With the Wind” :)
There is no such thing as “temporary” in the immigration business. Once they get her you own them. They will never leave.
I have a very good Venezuelan friend. He comes from the upper middle class.
His father owned a couple of stores and his step father was a fuels engineer in the oil fields. They were financially ruined by the Chavistas.
Most of the Venezuelans are poor “gimedats” who elected Chavez; not the middle class.
Many of the middle class, like my friend, escaped to the USA and live in Florida.
We should harbor all of them. NOT the poor, but those who where robbed by the Chavista commies.
We declared our independence from controlling political influences 240+ years ago. Then we fought a long war to actually get it. Many patriots (and tyrants) died for it.
Good luck Venezuela. We can drop some crated weapons to you at locations you chose. After that youre on your own.
What a dumb idea. “Let’s flood our country with leftist so that we can virtue signal!”
I think the best course of action would be to capture a small Venezuelan city on the coast along with a 50 mile radius of and declare it a refugee zone and set it up like a Latin American Hong Kong. It’s success will show Venezuela’s failure.
Bingo. And if they don't like it, they should rise up and overthrow it. Any country FREE country fought for their own freedom. That means fighting, bleeding and dying for it.
We should've all learned by now that we cannot "liberate" a country and hand them freedom. It never works.
We got lucky with the Cubans because the Cubans who came here were the productive ones who lost everything under Castro. They hated Castro from the get go.
