Well, I do remember in 1983 a guy walked into the store where I sold Video equipment and said he was going to COBOL school and it was hot. My response, I kid you not, was this: “I thought I missed the computer revolution.”

Yeah. In 1983.

I did go to that 10 month night school for $2300 and it worked me up to a six figure income with out college. And one guy I went to class with, who had a year of community college, ended up working at the same three companies I worked for. We both worked in the same departments at the same time, except he stayed at one - a fortune 500 company - and became CIO for around 12 years. On a $2300 COBOL course.

However, I do think this time it will be different. I don’t know the timing, but still:

That’s a Great story and I am glad that it all worked out for you so well.

Yeah, the graphics courses I took (and I had to learn office suite because I did not know it and how to type because I couldn’t) was paid for through a 5,000 dollar grant that was being given to those who wanted better jobs.

The “fair” I guess, had me and 3 other people attending :)

I thought there would be THOUSANDS..

That 5,000 bucks the gov gave me was repaid UNTOLD times over almost 25 years.

As for the video, it’s SO ONE SIDED and I could present a comprehensive rebuttal here based on what CEOs and CTOs and VPs and head of departments have told me...

But i’m too lazy and you’d shoot yourself by the end :)

As for AI, the bots are writing stock reports now.

No kidding, this is what it is like

“If a stock’s earnings are higher, the price could go up. However, If the earnings are lower, it could down”

And the rest of the article makes NO SENSE. Like someone who was very drunk wrote it.

It is not nearly as capable as people think, the lag time in companies getting the newest and greatest thing can be up to a decade (i worked at INVESTMENT BANKS that had TEN year old computers for some people) ...

And I FORGOT what my last point was gonna be.

Say goodnight Gracie!!

I remember my Computer Science professor in college in the early 90’s telling everyone in his Computer Science class NOT to major in Computer Science. Why? His response.

“Whatever you learn today will be outdated 4 years from now.”

I guess that is why he was a professor, and not out in the real world.
