Going so fast it got on plane, like a boat gets on plane.

If the alligator was planing, so was the kayak. I've never seen one plane... but then again, I've never seen one racing a huge gator.

Some years ago, a news crew was interviewing a SF Bay kayaker. A shark had mistaken the kayak for a seal, and took a chunk out of the kayak.

The guy said he had to keep paddling very fast to keep it afloat until he could reach the beach/dock.

If a gator was chasing me, my kayak would be a not just a plane but a jet! They would think i was in one of those cigar speed boats!
