All Boston Kindergartners to receive $50 savings accounts at start of school year

The mayor of Boston announced Monday that every kindergartener in the city’s public school system will receive a savings account, complete with a starting $50 balance this fall at beginning of the school year.

Mayor Marty Walsh said Boston Saves, a pilot program which has benefited about a dozen schools since 2016, is slated to reach all Boston public schools by Fall 2019. The city will then take steps to expand the program to charter schools. The initiative aims to increase college and career access by supporting low income families in saving and planning for their children’s future.

“Every child deserves to hear the message ‘We believe in you and you can do anything’ from the first minute they walk through our school doors,” Boston Public Schools Superintendent Brenda Cassellius said in an online video message. “I encourage every family whose child is entering kindergarten this year to participate so they can take advantage of all of the wonderful benefits of the program.”

Yes they will be running short at the end of the month, and knowing that their child has 50 bucks , will just take it.

Exactly! Free money. If they truly wanted to teach them the value of money, have them clean toilets and mop hallways until the $50 is earned.

12-year-old kindergarten illegals and leftist American parents (it’s Boston) will figure out that one has to provide info upon initial logon to begin accessing the account, and hack in to others’ for cash.

Why would we ever be told about it?

When their parents steal their money to buy drugs the kids will learn their first important life lesson:

Never trust adults!

Yeah, that $50 will go a long way towards paying for a college education. And everyone gets the $50 - single-parent kids whose mom is on welfare, and kids whose parents earn a million a year.

What are they thinking? That won’t come close to the amount needed to buy a new pair of Nike AirMax sneakers, even if they are stolen.

Hey if they save that money they could have a whopping $1,649.38, when they retire (assuming a 6% rate)

They will teach the kids a little mathematics, too.

Daddy has $50. If beer is $2.00 a bottle, how many bottles of beer can daddy buy?

Teaching the valuable lesson that when you save your money over long periods of time, you get nothing in return at zero percent interest?

But . . . but . . . the concept of "earning" money is so "white," so racist and so capitalist. We can't have that; kids must be conditioned at a young age to learn to expect government to give them everything for free; they must be trained to be socialists.

In principal that’s a great idea, but even back to my day in the ‘70s the way student aid worked, you and your parents were chumps for saving for college.
