It could be. Some people even say its #2 or #3. Cricket is #2 because of the Indian subcontinent, not so much because of England or Australia. Field hockey is big in India and Pakistan and is also played in Europe. Add all the girls who play it in North America, and that's a lot of people. For some reason America decided that girls play field hockey and when boys do something called "lacrosse", but it's not like that in other parts of the world.
