But sometimes Ill skim the Apocrypha. :D
When TNG came out in '87, I would go over a pal's house, pop some beers, and give it the MST3K treatment.
It took less than one episode to violate TOS (despite Roddenberry at the helm). When Q was going to annihilate the Enterprise over (among other things) McCarthyism, a Cold War over "differing economic systems", and Capital Punishment ... at which point Picard interrupts, protesting that barbarism was done away with eons ago.
Oh really? Would anyone like to remind Captain Picard of what a "Code 4" violation is, and its required penalty?
There was a chance for TNG to redeem itself when Wesley Crusher earned the death penalty for not keeping off the grass on the pleasure planet. That was the time for the Captain to keep intergalactic peace and obey the Prime Directive. But no ... this lousy Will Robinson knock-off gets off scot-free! (Young Anakin was another Will Robinson knock-off. Billy Mumy was the best of the "kid who knows more about the ship than the top engineer who's been doing this all his life", and "Lost in Space" at least LENT itself to that kind of scripting.)
They could have knocked off Wesley, or that Walking Mood Ring ... but no. They kill off Yar. "You stupid earthings! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!"
