Yankees pitcher Domingo German has been suspended by Major League Baseball under its domestic violence policy.

The Yankees pitcher, who is currently second in the majors in wins with 18, has been suspended for seven days, "barring an extension," according to the league.

The 27-year-old from the Dominican Republic has been a surprise star for the Yankees this season and carries a league-leading 18-4 win-loss record. He has a 4.03 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 123 innings pitched

As I understand it, there isn't a police report at this point.

So now, it’s not just the National Felon League who has problems. Baseball also has a growing number of violent players who like to hit people, not just little white balls.

Don’t their contracts have a morals clause? They need one. Fire them the minute they’re convicted of a crime on anything greater than jaywalking.

At one time, professional athletes were considered heroes by kids. Today, they’re nothing but felons.

That's acting white.

Big deal...they wrapped up their division, none of the games he will miss will be important...suspend him for the first playoff series if you actually care MLB.

They used to have and enforce such Morals Clause violations all the time. I’m not a big sports fan, so I may have missed certain details.

My guess is the vast majority of modern day team members are in violation of many Morals Clause standards. If all of those were suspended or removed from the teams, those teams would not have enough players left to play. So the bar of what is acceptable behavior has been lowered even more.
How low can they go?

It always infuriates me when NBA and NFL or college football players commit violent crimes and then are evaluated by “the NBA says that due to the importance of the playoffs his trial will be delayed and he will be given parole in an arrangement with the court.” If the player is low in star quality then the virtue signalling goes way up “We in this league are highly respectful of women’s rights and strongly oppose any violent act against a woman....”
Hypocrites.

I agree innocent until proven guilty. Many are innocent. The MeToo crud is wrong.

But even arrest by police ruins a common man but is often an inconvenience to a national star. That’s what I mean.

Famous case:
“The Kobe Bryant sexual assault case began in July 2003 when the news media reported that the sheriff’s office in Eagle, Colorado, had arrested professional basketball player Kobe Bryant in connection with an investigation of a sexual ... The woman accused Bryant of raping her in his hotel room on July 1,....”
The NBA was strong in making sure he would not be kept out of any important NBA games for that accusation. Try that if the guy was a factory assembly line guy on the second shift. Too bad, buddy.

“Don’t their contracts have a morals clause?”

Not when he is 18-4 and the Yankees are headed to the playoffs.

Considering that college baseball is about 95 percent white, the ingredients are there for a delightfully caucasian MLB.

But the teams insist on recruiting players from foreign countries, even while there are plenty of good American lads ready to play their hearts out.

Still, the racial situation in MLB is a lot better than that in the NFL, where it seems like management is determined to field all-felon squads, except for kickers.

My attitude towards black athletes has really hardened over the last 20 years or so, into something approaching out-and-out hatred. Meanwhile, I find myself greatly admiring black patriots like Justice Thomas, Dr. Ben Carson, Walter Williams, Larry Elder, etc.

I think this is called “cognitive dissonance.” But it pretty much describes my attitude as things stand today.

The MeToo feminist man hating movement is nothing more than a character assassination group of angry women who are just cannon fodder used by the demorat media.

The players have quickly figured out that when a lot of money is at stake, most times
“Virtue” can be postponed, sometimes indefinitely!

Perhaps, but alumninum vs. wood bats (MLB) likely also makes a difference.

I agree fully. It has to go.

Ones I mean here are mostly police calls where the officers patch up the bloodied, bruised woman and put the athlete in handcuffs.

And that video in the elevator of a big athlete battering and punching a smaller woman between floors.

Not a spurned ex who calls up someone to slander the man and get him in trouble.

College baseball uses aluminum bats, which is why the MLB needs to recuit in foreign countries. When college baseball decides to play real baseball maybe MLB will take a longer look.

Only about 10% of college players will even be drafted by an MLB team. It’s still a minor league system.

Athletes who have a choice usually don’t want to spend a typical four years in the minors, unless they really love baseball.

Honestly I just don’t care. These women go after those who can pad their desires of wealth and comfort because if it doesn’t work out they can sue for whatever and walk away with a bundle, even just to settle out of court. They know what they’re doing.

This doesn't seem right to me. MLB should let the guy have his day in court before deciding to punish him. What if he ends up being acquitted - or not even charged at all?

Was he even charged? The article makes no mention of it. Only that MLB was investigating. Why is MLB investigating? Don't we have law enforcement for that?
