Melania Trump Wears 4-Inch Stilettos to White House Tennis Pavilion Groundbreaking
Footwear News ^ | 10/09/2019 | Ella Chochrek

Melania Trump is taking on the animal-print trend.

The first lady posed on Instagram yesterday at the groundbreaking of the White House’s new tennis pavilion clad in a pair of snakeskin Manolo Blahnik BB pumps.

Melania teamed her heels with a chic coat dress as she posed with a shovel next to the construction site.

The shoes were an unsurprising choice: the former model has favored BB pumps for all occasions throughout husband Donald Trump’s presidency. Named after the French actress Brigitte Bardot and created more than 10 years ago, the BB boasts a 4-inch stiletto heel, a pointed toe and a low-cut vamp.

Melania owns the shoes in loads of fun colorways, but yesterday’s pick was a classic black — done in a trend-forward snakeskin fabrication. The style is available on Intermixonline.com for $935.

“I am pleased to announce the ground breaking of a new tennis pavilion on the White House grounds. This structure will be a testament to American craftsmanship and skill. It is my hope that this private space will function as both a place of leisure and a gathering place for future First Families,” FLOTUS wrote in an Instagram post informing fans of the project. “Thank you to the many talented people involved for their dedication and support.”

Did they ever get rid of Clinton’s quarter-mile running track that he never used?

It is a tennis pavilion west of the courts

The proposal described a two-phase plan. According to the proposal, the first phase will “replace a small building that currently houses a restroom and a storage space on the White House grounds just southwest of the White House itself.” The second phase will involve replacing a maintenance building dubbed “The Pony Shed,” which is used by National Park Service workers.

the pavilion will “provide a unifying element for the tennis court, the Children’s Garden and the Kitchen Garden.” The White House Kitchen Garden was a project created by then-first lady Michelle Obama, to plant and grow fruits, vegetables and herbs and provide an example of sustainable gardening. The Children’s Garden was founded in 1968 by then-first lady Lady Bird Johnson as a place for future first grandchildren to play. It includes cement footprints and handprints of previous presidents’ children and grandchildren on a paved pathway, as well as a pond for koi fish and a tree that kids can climb.

The plan proposal states the tennis pavilion will be “approximately 1,200 square feet in area and approximately 18 feet in height,” and “clad in limestone and have a copper roof. This new structure will be located west of the existing tennis/basketball court.”
