Happy Sunday!

Love The Halls of Ivy...Counterspy (if this is the show based on real stories) is awesome...never seen a Grand Old Opry here...have no idea what the Carter Family is...Suspense!...and The Lady Esther Screen Guild Theatre should be good...

Hey. No rain up here. Soil is like dust, we haven’t had real rain since July or June. How are you?

We’re fine. I’m so glad to be back home after almost a week in Texas. Keith and the cats are glad I’m back, too.

:-)

Sorry, was out lording over a stock pot of homemade chili (good weather for it). Hanging in there. Bad day with the legs and feet today, so I may go fire up the foot spa, and load up some hot water and epsom salts later. My feet were freezing when I got up, and the nerves were like a four-alarm electrical fire. Went to the market to pick up the remaining ingerdients for tonight’s chili that I forgot yesterday, and it felt like someone beat my soles and heels with a wiffle ball bat. Could just be the change in the weather. I’ve noticed that as I get older, my general maladies and Jerry’s Kid afflictions seem to notice changes in the weather more acutely. There’s some truth to the caricature of the old geezer rubbing his lower back and saying, “Yep, we got some rain moving in, my lumbago’s acting up.” LOL! It’s 66 and drizzle here right now and we’ve finally got some substantial rain in the forecast for the next few days, but it’ll really chill down by midweek - lows in the mid 40’s. Time to dig out the fleece lounging pants and Muk Luks. LOL This is how fickle the weather has been. Three months in a rotisserie, only fished in one local tourney and got skunked (The O2 levels in the water have been so low, the fish can’t bite because they’re sucking air and their lips keep getting sunburned. *nyuk*nyuk*nyuk*), and now a 25-35 degree temperature drop in less than a week. I could swear that you’ve gotten more rain up there.

“Yep, we got some rain moving in, my lumbago’s acting up.” LOL!

Ha.

No, very dry. You cook the chili in a covered porch?

If you want to call the range hood over the stove a 'covered porch', then yes. LOL! 🤣 Hey, I do the full monty when I cook it. Ground beef (or venison, if I can find someone to suck up to during hunting season), diced tomatoes and mild chiles, a little garlic, tomato sauce, sweet onion, green bell pepper, kidney, pinto, and seasoned chili beans, chili powder and cumin seasoned to taste, simmered low and slow, and topped with Tex-Mex shredded cheese and sour cream. Connie handles the sweet cornbread - she adds a can of sweet creamed corn into the batter, and that adds a nice moistness to it when it comes out. Not nearly as dry. And butter. Lots of butter. I used to dice up a few mild jalapeno rings in it back in the day, but with her MS now, she can't tolerate eating anything spicier than........water. 🙄

Good homemade chili is perfect in cooler weather. And cheese, sour cream and corn bread goes perfectly with it. :-D
