The stress of university, and the age it occurs always claims a few kids to schizophrenia or bipolar disorder (assuming that’s what has happened).
A very intelligent boy known to my daughter went off at university, and randomly attacked two cops. He got shot, survived, was put on probation (and meds), and then broke bail and house arrest and disappeared, saying he was going to Alaska. Not sure if he was ever found.
I hope they find this cadet and can help him before he hurts someone or himself.
