An impeachment trial of President Donald Trump could keep Democratic presidential candidates who are also senators off the campaign trail for weeks.
New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet, California Sen. Kamala Harris, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren would be required to stay in Washington, D.C., during an impeachment trial, according to BuzzFeed News.
Senate rules require senators to be present in session Monday through Saturday beginning at noon every day for an impeachment trial, BuzzFeed reported. Former President Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial took several weeks.
Bennet said he is unsure whether he could continue campaigning if an impeachment trial takes place, he told BuzzFeed.

This is a well thought out plan by the DNC to chose the candidate for the party not the party chose the candidate for the DNC. I'll add: I wonder if the Dems realize that this might come back to bite them in the rear. They are establishing new “low” standards and precedents that are now okay for future investigations which will no doubt include Democrats.

The Senate will give the “impeachment” all the time it is due: an hour, tops (to vote).
What with the House doing so behind closed doors, no ‘R questioning, no ‘R witnesses, no discovery, prompt dispatch of this stupidity is in order.
President Trump could conceivably get a trillion dollars of free campaign coverage just by having witnesses called in his defense for six months in a Senate trial.

Not to worry. Mitch is going to work out with Schumer new rules for impeachment trials. Expect secret ballot and absentee voting to be allowed.
I’d ask any Dem Senators potentially running against President Trump to recuse themselves from impeachment. Clearly there is a conflict of interest.
As I was cleaning today, I caught a few minutes of Mark Simone filling in for Hannity and the name SOROS came up that this might be his doing to get Hitlery in the race to win......I wouldn’t put it past either one of them.
That’s where I heard it then googled it to find this article.
Maybe that’s what Mitch was enlightening Chuck the Schmuck on the rules. No one leaves town and I’m going to make it last a year!
